The 2024 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) represents the latest advancements in the plumbing field. This is the eighth edition developed under the ANSI Consensus process and is designated as an American National Standard by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). – New provisions for tileable shower receptors and kits
– Requirements for temperature-actuated, flow reduction devices for individual fittings
– Provisions for all-gender facilities, including fixture counts, privacy compartments, and partitions
– Updated requirements for water supply and distribution manifolds
– Revised provisions for hot-water recirculating systems
– New guidelines for private well water tanks
– Updated rules for appliance condensate drains when serving multiple appliances and connecting to a common indirect waste pipe
– Enhanced minimum water quality provisions for onsite treated nonpotable water systems, nonpotable water devices and systems, and harvested rainwater systems
– Updated water supply fixture unit (WSFU) and drainage fixture unit (DFU) values for bathroom groups in Appendix C
– New Appendix O providing minimum standards for non-sewered sanitation systems
– New Appendix P outlining minimum qualifications for inspectors, examiners, service technicians, installers, and administrators for systems covered by the UPC
– New Appendix Q addressing plumbing requirements for indoor horticultural facilities
– New Appendix R setting minimum plumbing system requirements for tiny houses
